I was overwhelmed in March to receive an offer from Edinburgh College of Art, it took a while to sink in that I had successfully been offered a place on my dream course.
After just 8 weeks I was able to notice the development of my work, with both my portfolio and A-levels, clearly seeing the improvement; I surprised myself.
Julie was extremely helpful in giving me the confidence to experiment with my own talent and skills.
I learned so much about myself and my abilities, the programme gave me structure and stopped me procrastinating about the amount of work I had to do. Information I was learning from our zoom calls, I was able to apply the same principles to my A-level work which improved my grades significantly.
Julie has given me the confidence in my skill and talent, as well as the knowledge and understanding of creative processes that I can use in all of my future projects at university and beyond. I am so grateful to her.
I wholeheartedly recommend Portfolio Oomph, I’m looking forward to thanking her in person when I start in Edinburgh University (ECA) later this year.

My daughter has always loved art and doing anything creative, but putting together her costume design portfolio for university had her stumped because she was struggling to know where to start.
Julie guided her friendly critical eye through Lizzie’s work, there were highs and there were lows, but she took on board everything Julie said and then implemented it in her own way. The end result after months of work was a fabulous costume portfolio.
There were tears of joy from both of us, when she told me she’d been offered a coveted place at Edinburgh College of Art for performance costume, her first and only choice!
To anybody considering signing up to portfolio truth, I wholeheartedly recommend it and I would say – think of it as an investment in your child’s future. It certainly worked for my daughter…I will be forever grateful to Julie and Portfolio Oomph.

This article was written by Julie Read, a leading educator in the Creative Industries, as featured in The Guardian newspaper, on a mission to create a legacy to ‘unlock your creative genius’.
My passion and mission is your art portfolio, to help to get you that place at college or university.
CLARITY, in particular around the creative process, sketchbooks, and what the Colleges actually want to see are the founding principles.
