My tailored mentoring and private art lessons are designed to give you whatever you need for success at your first choice art college/university.

Competition is fierce, for example at Edinburgh College of Art there are in the region of 6000 applicants for approximately 280 places (1:22). You need to learn to think creatively, prepare your portfolio in the best way possible so that you don’t miss out.

  • Fortnightly mentoring meetings, face to face or by Zoom
  • UCAS personal statement guidance

My services are available only to a VERY limited number of students. You will have my personal support to help you succeed.

Mentoring

In the past 12 years, I’ve worked as a private art tutor and mentored 117 students to success – gaining 244 places for art and design courses at 69 institutions around the UK and abroad (Edinburgh College of Art, Glasgow School of Art, University of the Arts London, Atelier Chardon Savard – Berlin, Wimbledon College of Arts, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and more).

Course success in subjects such as Painting, Interior Design, Fashion, Textiles, Sculpture, Architecture, Environmental Art, Illustration, Visual Communication to name a few.

Read on about 3 students who’ve achieved outstanding results, which at first seemed unattainable.

> My first mentoring story and Lachlan’s parents take on it. Lachlan didn’t study art at school and went on to study at Glasgow School of Art.

> Ellie achieved 5 places at the some of the top colleges in the UK for fashion – Fashion is considered the most competitive subject at art college.

> Read about how Yashi, an Indian student, made her international application over the summer to build a portfolio in just 5 weeks. She’s now graduated from Edinburgh College of Art and has graduated from a Masters in Filmmaking at Sheffield Hallam University.

And how would it feel when you’re accepted?

My mentoring program is usually a 6-month process to prep you, it includes regular meetings and sessions with me, Julie Read of Portfolio Oomph.

It includes a full day in January to select and compile your digital portfolio. It culminates in your application in February after interviews. If you contact me after September for submissions in January I can fast track you in 3 months. (Those with applications that run into April please call to negotiate your requirements 07815 810797).

>> WHAT DO WE DO? Together, we establish a focused, personal plan including a digital portfolio service.

>> HOW DO WE DO IT? Once signed up, we meet every 2 weeks for one hour (or weekly if on Fast Track). In this hour session, we plan set tasks, and review work that has been done. These regular meetings keep you on track to meet your goal of getting into your dream college.

>> HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? I ask for a commitment of 6 months starting in August/September (or 3-month fast-track if starting later than September) for my mentoring, to enable the best possible chance of your success.  View my brochure for full details.
