Improve your sketchbook ideas

Great news once more! Our 'Idea and sketchbook development' at Off the Rails Arthouse in Ladybank is running again in November 2014 due to the success of the previous workshops in July and October last year.

Individuality of ideas or even just generating art sketchbook ideas and what to work from can be a real problem when creating artwork. Once you've decided what you are going to work on there also comes that really scary question of 'what I am I going to do with it?'

How can I make my work or my portfolio individual?

What is a sketchbook and how do I work in it? These are questions that we get asked over and over so we aimed to cover this in the workshop and much more. Here we go…..

Saturday November 22nd and 23rd 2014

10.00am – 4.00pm

Cost: £80 (payable by cheque or BACS)

Learn how simple everyday objects/places can inspire individual ideas and be developed through the creative process in your sketchbook. Looking at research and development we introduce you to some exciting new artists that will spark ideas for traditional and more conceptually led artworks. Ideal for those applying to art college or anyone wanting to explore their own creativity with guidance. Some materials will be provided.
If you'd like to take part, please email: julie@portfolio-oomph.com or call 07815 810797

8 places minimum. First come first served basis. If we do not have the full quota we will inform you one week before the class is due to begin.

The participants of this workshop will learn how to use their art sketchbook, ideas and exploration whilst demonstrating the creative process. We'll look at research, development and support each other at various points in answering questions based on what you're producing, in what we call critical reflection.

We will be using our Pinterest boards to explore a range of great artists who demonstrate strong ideas based work. There are also some great examples of art sketchbook ideas that really give you some help in how to approach the idea of using a sketchbook.

Following the first of the art classes in Fife we had some great feedback from the course participants, please read on.

I really enjoyed the mix of people (age and experiences) on the Ideas and Sketchbook development course. I found the brain storming and the tutor's demo/example of one single idea really useful.

The Portfolio Oomph website and Pinterest pages were a great source of inspiration. My only criticism is that 2 days wasn't enough! Pam Haden

I enjoyed the relaxed but proactive atmosphere, learning new techniques and the tutor support when feeling stuck.

It was really useful seeing other people working and getting feedback/ideas from the tutor. I feel quite excited to take what I've learnt here further and do more workshops. I would definitely recommend Portfolio Oomph. Margaret Hume

We are very grateful for sponsorship with the donation of art materials from the Artstore in Glasgow. This was great as it allowed us to do lots of great mono printing and exploration of texture.
